Photograph of the Cathedral of Amos, St. Teresa of Avila

The Cathedral of St. Teresa of Avila may surprise with its Romano-Byzantine style of architecture unique in North America. It stands out because of what one is accustomed to seeing in other places of worship in Quebec: a circular design and a rounded dome.

Built in 1922, the church of Amos became a cathedral in 1939, is adorned with many decorations that enhance its charm. In particular, fine stained glass windows adorn the windows and Stations of the Cross in mosaic covers the walls. The central view of this panoramic photograph shows us the beauty and architectural richness of this extraordinary cathedral in northern Quebec.
