Manueline style at the Convent of Jesus in Setúbal

Manueline style at the Convent of Jesus in Setúbal.  Manueline architecture saw the birth of spirals and pillars become twisted. The presence of twisted columns supporting the roof of the convent of Jesus, also called the church of Jesus at Setubal is an early manifestation of Manueline. The genius of this type of architecture is to introduce several decorative patterns such as spirals or twists in structural elements.
